During his distinguished career, Dr. Morgan has established himself as a world-renowned authority on disorders of the shoulder and knee. Many arthroscopic techniques used by today’s surgeons were developed by Dr. Morgan. In addition, he holds numerous U.S. patents on arthroscopic surgical instruments and has been a pioneer in such areas as cartilage transplantation, meniscus repair, anterior/posterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, shoulder reconstruction, and labral repair particularly in baseball pitchers. Major League Baseball pitchers have returned to play through Dr. Morgan’s surgical expertise, and he also cares for Olympic-level athletes and players on the LPGA tour.

Over his 18-year career he has published more than 50 articles in peer reviewed journals and presented more than 220 papers at national and international orthopaedic meetings. He has served as an associate editor of the Journal of Arthroscopy, and he has been secretary of the International Knee Society and the International Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy Association.

As a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon, Dr. Morgan is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Society for Sports Medicine, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, The International Society of Arthroscopy and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine, The American Shoulder and Elbow Society, The Philadelphia Orthopaedic Society and the Philadelphia Orthopaedic Society Sports Medicine Society. In addition, he is listed in Who’s Who in America, the World of Science and Engineering. His teaching affiliations include: Clinical professor, University of Pennsylvania and associate clinical professor, Thomas Jefferson University.

Victor L. Kalman, D.O., FAOAO

Victor R. Kalman, DO, FAOAO
Dr. Kalman is a Board Certified Orthopaedic surgeon and fellowship trained in Sports Medicine and Arthroscopic surgery. During his Fellowship at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA, he worked with the 1993-1994 Philadelphia Phillies under the direction of Dr. Phillip Marone. He also worked with the Philadelphia Eagles during his chief year under the direction of Dr. Vince Distefano.

He, along with Dr. Craig Morgan founded the Morgan Kalman Clinic. Dr. Kalman credits Dr. Morgan with “fine tuning and advancing” his arthroscopic skills during his Fellowship at Thomas Jefferson. He serves as team physician for local area high schools and is a sports medicine consultant to the University of Delaware. He was on the sideline for the 2003 IAA Football National Championship game. He was the Orthopaedic consultant for the McDonald’s LPGA Golf Championship in Wilmington, Delaware and in 2009, while in Bulle Rock, Maryland. Dr. Kalman was also selected to serve as a volunteer physician at the United States Olympic Training Center.

Dr. Kalman’s area of expertise involves, but is not limited to, Arthroscopic surgery of the hip, knee, shoulder, elbow and ankle. He has lectured nationally and is published in peer reviewed journals. He has served as, Associate Master Instructor, in Arthroscopic surgery of the hip, knee and shoulder at the Orthopaedic Learning Center in Rosemont, Illinois. He is also a consultant for the Arthroscopic industry.

Dr. Kalman attended the MSKUS CADAVER COURSE (musculoskeletal ultrasound) from July 23 – 25, 2010 in Baltimore, Maryland and is now certified to perform diagnostic ultrasound to the joints with guided injections for therapeutic purposes, which includes, Autologous Conditioned Plasma.

He is a Fellow of the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopaedics and is past President of its sports medicine section. He is a member of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine and has served on its Council of Delegates and Mentoring Committee. Dr. Kalman is also a member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America, serving as an instructor.

In addition, he is listed in Who’s Who in American Professionals and was named one of Delaware’s “Top Docs” for 2005, 2009 by Delaware Today Magazine.

Vic Kalman was a Four Year Letterman at Gettysburg College in Gettysburg, PA. He also played for and was a Semi-Professional National Champion with the Chambersburg Cardinals in 1979.

Dr. Kalman continues to work with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Delaware and has been a judge for their Youth of the Year Program.

He developed a passion for health and living your best life while completing his undergraduate degree in Health and Physical Education. This was followed by post-graduate certification in Physical Therapy at Columbia University in New York. He is certified in Age Management Medicine by Cenegenics Education and Research Foundation. He is certified First Line Therapy Practitioner by Metagenics. First Line Therapy is a “therapeutic lifestyle program” to help his patients make better choices to enhance their health and prevent disease.

Craig G. Smucker, MD

Craig G. Smucker, MD
Dr. Smucker was born and raised in Delaware. He graduated from Newark High School, and completed his bachelor’s in chemistry with honors at the University of Delaware. He completed a master’s degree in molecular biology at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He got his medical degree in 1998 from the Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City. He completed his residency training at University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark, NJ in 2003. He then returned to Delaware to open his own practice in Seaford, DE.

After three years in general orthopedic practice, Dr. Smucker’s interest in adult reconstructive surgery led him to return for an additional year of training in hip and knee replacement surgery. He returned to Columbia University to spend one year performing nothing but joint replacements. During this time he trained in the latest techniques in knee and hip surgery, including partial (or unicondylar) knee replacements and hip resurfacing. During his year in fellowship, he authored a textbook chapter on revision hip surgery for patients suffering from recurrent hip instability. He also helped train visiting surgeons on the technique for the Birmingham Hip Resurfacing (BHR) device as part of Smith and Nephew’s required certification process for BHR implantation.

Dr. Smucker is on staff at Christiana and Wilmington Hospitals in Delaware, and also serves the communities of Chester County, Pennsylvania on the staff of Jennersville Regional Hospital. Dr. Smucker is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Medical Association, the Delaware Medical Society, and the Delaware Orthopaedic Society.
